Heirlooms & More, Worden Produce is a Salt Lake Valley, Utah area (Davis County) based grower of specialty heirloom vegetables. We had a tremendous 2011 and look forward to a better 2012.
Before the industrialization of agriculture (pre-1950s), a much wider variety of vegetables were grown. Today's modern agricultural practices use large, single hybrid variety plots to produce the majority of vegetables commercially available. These hybrid varieties are selected for their productivity, ability to withstand mechanical picking, cross-country shipping, and tolerance to drought, frost, or pesticide/herbicide use - not for their local freshness, quality, taste, and nutritional value.
Our selected heirloom varieties provide a source of locally and naturally grown vegetables whereby the full flavor, quality, and nutritional value of the non-hybrid/open pollinated species are available to you.
We can also custom grow a particular variety if you have a favorite that you do not find on our 2012 Products List, or have difficulty finding other sources. Give us an opportunity and you will not be disappointed.
